Bournemouth Rally -9th to 16th August 2012

This year we had a very ‘select’ number at our campsite for our Bournemouth Rally!  However, those who did not attend missed out on a really lovely time, even the weather was wonderful for most of the time, almost TOO hot at times, which is something of a rarity!

Steve brought his marquee this year (of Fun Day fame) which was great as we had cover for us all for the rain!! – but it was good for our Supper, ‘Safari’ breakfast, and for keeping  out of the hot sun!

The usual Supper was held with an ‘Olympic’ theme, do take a look at the photographs to see details, we had some visitors who came just for the supper, its fame having obviously  spread !!  We had an ‘origami’ competition, for any item to be made from the Union Jack Napkins, these were judged by ‘crowd applause’ with the water lily winning - wonderful what people can do with a napkin!!

Bournemouth Championship Show turned out to be a wonderful day for one of our number again, this time Ann Caldwell who won the Challenge Certificate with her dog Gemill Back To The Future for Cerysan – great for them, but unfortunately Ann had to return home as her old lady (Ceris) was not very well, and sadly she lost her shortly after.

We decided to recreate the ‘Safari Breakfast’ which was first held at Ocknell ………... years ago.  Each unit was organized to provide one of the elements and all assembled in the marquee at exactly 10.30am with their offerings, for all to have breakfast together, Julie and Peter Revill providing the toast and tea and coffee to go with it – great fun, and something we may well do again another year – depending on weather

Poor Ralph Wright got bitten by some ‘rare’ and very nasty bug whilst on a walk with the dogs, and within a couple of days he was off to hospital as it swelled up and was extremely painful, he ‘negotiated’ so that he did not have to remain in hospital (as they wanted him to) but he certainly was not well for a while, hope you are completely OK now Ralph. Perhaps you should not have sat in Bob’s wheelchair, it set the stage for your troubles a few days later!!!

We watched the Olympic Closing Ceremony all together, which made it more special, and a very pleasant (and boozy) evening was had by all.

Sandra and Bob Blackford are to celebrate their Golden Wedding in October, so the chance was taken to have a celebration whilst on site, Bob not being very well at the time, but managed to enjoy a drink with us all.

Julie Revill organized the Rally this year because of Sandra being fully committed to Bob, but she did manage to keep things going as Sandra would have wished (she hopes!!) and we do plan to return again next year.

SEE YOU THERE??
